San Diego Zoo & Smores on the Beach

We took a short break from the beach and decided to visit the San Diego Zoo.  My friend gave us some coupons and the kids were free during the month of October, so it turned out to be a pretty good deal.  The boys were so excited to go!  We didn't get to the zoo until 12 and they closed at 5.  We crammed in as many animals as we could!  My boys are the biggest magnets for running into people or getting in their way.  They are like those animals who run into the road and you swerve to miss them, then they run right back into your path, forcing you to run over them.  I have noticed this especially on this trip and there was no exception at the zoo!!
Jacob had to point out to me that this bush was an elephant!!

I thought this was so cute!  We were waiting in line to go on the sky ride.

They were SO excited to go on the sky ride!

Mine & Hunter's Favorite (although Hunter said all of the animals were his favorite as we scrolled through the pictures).

Trevor's Favorite:  The Mountain Lions.  We saw them on our bus tour and I didn't get a chance to take a picture of them.

Jacob's Favorite

Cutest

Ugliest

 Creepiest

I told Hunter to get in the hole like Jacob.  Instead he got in with Jacob!

One of Hunter's favorite parts about the zoo..candy & snacks!

We got to ride the bus for the guided tour.  It was a quick way to see some animals, which worked out great since we were short of time.

They each had to have their own map.

 Those maps made terrific telescopes!

Jacob is pouting. He doesn't really like to be the passenger.

He was pretty happy once he was in the driver's seat!

Ahh, relaxing after a long day!

After the zoo we met Sabrina's family at Coronado for Smores on the beach.  The kids had so much fun playing together!  (Pictures to come).

Fishing & Visiting the Harbor

Trevor & Jacob had high hopes for catching a fish.  Unfortunately the fish weren't cooperating!  They still had fun casting the lines and hoping for a tug on the line!

Fishing fun was short-lived.  The boys turned their attention to catching crabs.
Aunt Tiffaney took them down to the rocks and went crab fishing with some bacon on a hook.  The crabs were actually grabbing at it, but then the pieces would break off in their pinchers.
Tiff & Kathleen had to leave us that day (sniff) and head home.  We missed having them around!

Hunter and his "penny".  He carried this around in his pocket pretty much wherever we went!
When Tiff had to leave, Trevor put the fishing poles away and stepped in to try and catch a crab for the boys. No luck! Those dang crabs wouldn't be played the fool!

Later we headed to the harbor to try & find some less intelligent crabs.  We happened upon this ray who appeared to be trapped.  Trevor attempted to save him, but realized he was already dead.  Poor thing!

Another Day In Paradise

Aunt Tiffaney continued to earn her "best aunt" title by helping the boys build a fort in the family room.  The LOVED it!!

Our first walk to the pier.  It was so nice to be able to wear jackets!!!
The jackets didn't last long with these boys running around!

I had to fight ALL my boys to get them to get dressed & take a family picture on the beach!  All they wanted to do was play!!  I am such a mean mom!!
After a quick photo shoot, the boys were finally allowed to change into their swimsuits to play!

Trevor was so happy to have a boogie boarding partner (Tiffaney).  Cold water & the possibility of sharks are not my thing!  My dad let me watch Jaws when I was really young.  It scarred me for life!!

Jacob is making sand angels!
The view from our condo!
It was so nice to fall asleep listening to ocean waves every night!!

Hanging at the Beach!

Tiffaney and Kathleen joined us for a few days during our trip.  It was fun to have some company!  Tiffaney is the best aunt ever!  She was showing the boys how to catch sand crabs and even helped them build a sand castle.  People on the beach around us probably thought she was their mom!  I was being lazy and relaxing in my chair!

The sun did not make an appearance until later this day, so it was pretty chilly!

Hunter made amends with the ocean and decided to give it another chance.
 The finished sand castle.
Rinsing off the leftover sand in the pool!
The pool got too cold so we moved over to the spa. They had just cleaned it so, it felt about as warm as the pool! We didn't stay very long!

I'm not sure what this girl was thinking.  I didn't notice it at first.  Trevor had to point it out to me.  His radar is very strong where half-naked girls are concerned.  This girl seriously is sunbathing without her top.  I think she was confused that she wasn't at a beach in Europe where I hear this is totally acceptable!  I think I am the best wife ever for commemorating this moment!  Ha ha!
