All Boy

Adam fell asleep on the way to the fireworks last night and was tucked into bed afterward in his July 4th shirt. He awoke this morning ready to tackle the day but had to lay quietly in bed with us while his brothers & sister finished slumbering. We passed the time by snapping some pictures.

When he saw this picture he laughed and said "I tooted my face". Hahaha. He is such a boy.

4th of July

Ashlyn celebrated her first 4th of July today!

We celebrated up in the mountains in the cool & rainy weather. It was in the 60's and felt so heavenly! Ashlyn spent most of the day napping & eating. The rest of us enjoyed the outdoors at Camp Gardner. We went out to find some fireworks at night but it turned out we were misinformed about the starting time of the show. We caught the end of the show while in our car, which suited us just fine since Adam & Ashlyn were passed out. We had a wonderful day celebrating the country's birth surrounded by family & awesome weather!

Ashlyn's Blessing

Ashlyn had her baby blessing today. We originally had picked a date in May, but postponed it because our basement was not done yet. I was hoping it would be done by the new blessing date we chose (today) a month later, but it is still not done. We decided to do it at the church building after the last ward had left instead of rescheduling it yet again. It turned out to be a rather nice arrangement. I didn't have to stress out once about getting the house clean for company.
I was really happy about that.
Ashlyn looked like an angel.
We were so grateful to have so many family members there to support us!

We are so blessed to have this perfect, sweet spirit in our family. She brings so much joy to our lives.

Brotherly Love

Jacob & Adam were fighting tonight so I made them hug for one minute. You can tell who didn't mind this arrangement and who was very much against it!

Vanity

Ashlyn is always happy to see herself. Every time I put her in front if the mirror she beams and coos like she is seeing an old friend.

Another One Bites the Dust

Hunter lost another tooth tonight. I did't even think it was that loose. I was feeding the baby when I heard him yell "Mom!" in a panicked voice. My stomach dropped as I yelled back "What?" There was a momentary pause. You never know what it will be when Hunter is involved. My tooth fell out!! I let out the air I was holding. Phew! Worse things have happened around here. Then I started panicking that maybe it was a permanent tooth he lost. After inspecting his mouth, I was once again relieved that it was his front top baby tooth that fell out. He lost the other one a while ago. When we were at the dentist last week, the dentist asked if his other front tooth had gotten knocked out. I told him it had just fallen out on its own. He said he was surprised because they usually come out fairly close together. As you can see, his adult tooth has been here for a while. I asked Hunter what he was doing that it fell out all of a sudden without being very loose. He said he was putting his teeth on a cardboard box and moving his head back and forth and he did it hard on accident and it just popped out. Obviously it was ready and is probably my being pushed out by the new tooth coming in, but leave it to Hunter to knock his tooth out by biting a cardboard box. He has always been my most orally fixated child. So thankfully the Tooth Fairy will not forget him tonight since I went to check my calendar for tomorrow and my camera popped right up since the last thing I did on my phone was take this picture. The Tooth Fairy has forgotten our kids a few times. It makes me feel like a failure the next morning when they come to me and say in a sad voice, "the tooth fairy didn't come last night!" Tomorrow will not be one of those mornings! Tomorrow I will feel like a good mom!

Picnic

Every now and then, Jacob surprises me with how sweet he can be as the big brother of the family. We had Blake, Bryce & Becca's daughter, over today for a play date. Usually Adam is left out during the day while his older brothers team up and leave him in the dust. We love it when she comes so he has a friend to entertain him. Today, all the kids played together and they were having so much fun. They decided to play outside in the 110 degree heat for reasons I can't understand. Blake told Jacob she was hungry so he asked me if he could make her a sandwich. Next thing I know, he has created a fully set table outside for them with peanut butter & jelly sandwiches and water. Too bad they were too busy playing to eat any of it but it made me smile that he went to the effort for them. Jacob is usually a "looks out for himself" kind of guy so it really touches me when he goes out of his way to do something for someone else.
