Tooth Heaven

Jacob has been in tooth heaven since I discovered he is growing another molar.  I had no idea he would be getting any additional teeth...I thought the 12 year old molars were next.  But apparently there are 6 year old molars.  The top 2 already crept in unnoticed by both of us.  When I was helping him brush his teeth I noticed this one on the bottom. I was pretty surprised and Jacob was very pleased!  He has been telling everyone he talks to that he is growing new teeth.  He has also added that his whole body is growing and his legs are getting big and stronger as well.  He even started taking my dumbbells and "exercising" so he can get stronger.  He is a funny kid and always keeps us laughing!

Going Home :(

We had plans to stay for at least half of the day and enjoy Oceanside for as long as possible, but changed our plans and decided to head home sooner.  We woke up to a drizzle so our plans of going for a walk or going to the beach were out the window. 

Hunter was happy that morning until he found out that we were going home!  He started crying and saying he wanted to stay!  I asked him why he wanted to stay.  He said he didn't want to leave "this room."  Apparently he had fun staying at the condo.  He really enjoyed sharing a room with Jacob.  When we got home that night, he tried to sleep in Jacob's room with him and when I vetoed that plan, he cried for me to lay in his room with him.  I guess he didn't want to sleep alone!  Unfortunately he took a late nap in the car and woke up when we got home at 6:30.  He was wide awake while the rest of us were exhausted!  He finally stopped coming out of his room around 11!

The boys spent our last few hours there soaking up the cable TV.  We don't enjoy such luxuries at home and we only have PBS at our disposal!  Jacob was thrilled to be able to watch Ben 10 Alien on the Cartoon Network a few times.  It is his new favorite. So long Batman!  You have been replaced..or at least moved down from the #1 slot.

Our ride home started off slow with 3 bathroom stops for Jacob in the first hour we were on the road.  I let him have a cup of Hawaiian Punch that morning..obviously a mistake!  It was getting pretty ridiculous to hear him say he had to go potty AGAIN when we had just stopped 20 minutes ago for him.  Luckily the 2nd part of our trip was more productive. 

I was even sad about leaving.  It was a fast week.  I didn't want to leave the gorgeous weather and the ocean.  Luckily we came home to cooler temperatures too so it actually is starting to feel like fall here!  That helped..just a little.

Last Day :(

We made the most of our last day.  We took a walk to the pier again to get some souvenirs..a big starfish for me for my beach bathroom and a new shovel (Trevor accidentally broke theirs while digging) and small starfish for the boys.  I hijacked those small starfish when we got home.  They made cute additions to my beach bathroom along with the big one I got!  The boys were very understanding.  I told them I'd get them another one and that's the last I've hear about it!  The boys' favorite thing to do on our walk down this long sidewalk is to have races.  Hunter was usually trailing behind.  Sometimes when he was losing, he would suddenly stop and drop his shoulders and put his head down.  He just wanted to be fast like Jacob.  Trevor carried him during some of the races so he could actually keep up.  He also taught Hunter how to pump his arms so he could run faster.  It was so cute to see him pumping his arms!

At the pier, it was fun to watch the fishermen reeling in their line and see what they caught.  They had way better luck fishing than we did!  This guy caught a thorned ray (I think).

He was nice to let the boys see it before he threw it back in the water. 

 Of course we had to end our vacation with a trip to the beach.  Trevor and the boys decided to dig a big hole.

I couldn't get in the hole because I was afraid I wouldn't be able to get out!  This belly is getting too big for me to accomplish such a simple task as lifting my leg out of a hole and using it to pull my entire body up!  2 more months!!  Then I can reclaim my stomach muscles (whatever small amount of them I had to begin with)!

 Trevor braved the chilly water to have one last day of boogie boarding.  Luckily he had a wet suit to help shield him from the shock of the cold!

After the boys had their fun in the hole, Trevor asked them if they wanted to be buried in the sand.  They both agreed.

Hunter started to get a little nervous when Trevor told them to get out and he couldn't move!

He was wedged in there pretty tight!  Trevor kept trying to pull him out and he wasn't budging!

I, being the good mom that I am, decided to stand by and snap endless pictures while Trevor tried to pull him out.

After lots of pulling & digging, he was finally freed!  He was looking at these pictures while I was doing this post and told me, "I don't want to be buried!"  Sadly, he seems to be traumatized from the ordeal. 

Jacob, on the other hand, had a blast being buried.  He hopped right back into whatever was left of the hole and Hunter was happy to help bury him!



San Diego Zoo & Smores on the Beach

 We took a short break from the beach and decided to visit the San Diego Zoo.  My friend gave us some coupons and the kids were free during the month of October, so it turned out to be a pretty good deal.  The boys were so excited to go!  We didn't get to the zoo until 12 and they closed at 5.  We crammed in as many animals as we could!  My boys are the biggest magnets for running into people or getting in their way.  They are like those animals who run into the road and you swerve to miss them, then they run right back into your path, forcing you to run over them.  I have noticed this especially on this trip and there was no exception at the zoo!!

 Jacob had to point out to me that this bush was an elephant!!

 I thought this was so cute!  We were waiting in line to go on the sky ride.

Trevor's Favorite:  The Mountain Lions.  We saw them on our bus tour and I didn't get a chance to take a picture of them.

 We got to ride the bus for the guided tour.  It was a quick way to see some animals, which worked out great since we were short of time.

They each had to have their own map.

 Those maps made terrific telescopes!

After the zoo we met Sabrina's family at Coronado for Smores on the beach.  The kids had so much fun playing together!  (Pictures to come).
