Do you think if I send this picture to Huggies they will give me free diapers? It might be worth a shot. I can hypnotize them with my baby's cuteness. Wonder what else I can use these powers for.

Pig Tragedy
You know how two seconds before something awful happens you are inspired to warn your kids not to do that because it might happen? I think mothers are just highly intuitive in all situations. Just before this happened, I told Hunter, "don't hold your pig by the ears because if it drops it will break." Pretty much as soon as I finished my sentence, it slipped out of his little hands and smashed on the floor. He ran to his bed to cry over the loss of his beloved pig. It was just before bedtime and it was the last thing I asked him to do before getting into bed..put your pig on your shelf. He had gotten it down to play with it during the day. Poor little guy. He cried like he had just lost a friend. I waited until after he fell asleep to clean it up hoping not to further traumatize him. Actually, I forgot about it initially, but as I was on my way to bed, well after midnight, I noticed the mess still on the floor as I walked passed their room to go to my own precious bed. I realized I couldn't leave it there for him to be upset about in the morning again, so I quietly scooped up the pig and threw it away discreetly so he wouldn't see the remains. The things we do for our kids!!
I am actually surprised it didn't break sooner with how much they play with them. He outlived my expectations. He will be missed by my sad little boy who lost his piggie.

AWWWH!
I will not apologize for having the cutest baby ever. I will only showcase him and talk constantly about how cute he is! HE IS SO CUTE!!
He is showing off his recently acquired crawling skills (recently as in a month ago..I'm still catching up).
Trevor & I took the kids out to Olive Garden where we taught Adam how to read. Here he is ordering for our table. Isn't he SO smart?? (Are you gagging yet by all of my baby bragging? And PS. he ordered in Italian. Not sure where he picked that up, but typical for a baby genius).
In reality we were at dinner with all 3 kids and Trevor was clenching his jaw the entire time. Why did we think it would be a good idea to dine out together as a family? Especially when NONE of them will eat Italian food? We can usually manage when we go to a kid cuisine friendly place like Chili's, but our kids were not amused with us trying to change their eating out norm. If it wasn't Chili's or McDonald's, they would not behave!! I looked at Trevor, smiled and reminded him that next weekend it would just be him and me on our kid less trip to Flagstaff! More to come on that subject as I continue to catch up.
Favorite Hang Out
(Please excuse the mess, as always)
One of Adam's favorite new hang outs is the refrigerator. Ever since he has been mobile he will turbo crawl there within seconds of the door being cracked. He loves to play with the salad dressing bottles in the door and I'm sure he just loves the cool feeling. I feel bad when it's time to take him away, especially if he has just gotten there and I am done. Sometimes I will just leave the door open for a few minutes so he can enjoy himself before I tear him away. Some of his other favorite hang outs are:
The Bathroom..specifically the toilet
The TV..he loves to slap it with his hand
The Water Cooler..he empties as much as he can before I block his access
The Kitchen Cupboards..always a treasure found inside
My Basket of Fake Fruit..which I constantly find on the floor
The Fireplace..mostly the sooty poker & brush)
Pretty much any place he knows he is not supposed to be. And the funny thing is, he knows! He is only 9 months old but he definitely knows when we don't want him to do something. If he is playing with something he is not supposed to, he will crawl away as fast as he can with it in his hands when he sees us coming toward him. It is so fun to see him learn these things! Crawling babies get into EVERYTHING but this is still one of my favorite stages!

Book Affair
I have a weakness for books (among many other things). I LOVE them. I can't resist buying them and bringing them into our home, especially if it's books to share with my boys and if they are books that I read and enjoyed as a child. I have recently introduced the kids to some of my childhood favorites: Amelia Bedila, Sideways Stories From Wayside School, Miss Nelson's Class Series and I tried to get Jacob to let me read The Chocolate Touch to him, but he thought a boy who could turn everything to chocolate with one touch sounded creepy. Yet, Harry Potter doesn't intimidate him one bit. Hmmm.
One of my favorite things to do with the boys is go to the bookstore and let them pick out their very own book to bring home to our ever-growing collection. It is so fun to see what type of book interest them. For Jacob, it is usually Star Wars & Harry Potter these days. Hunter is still holding strong with cars, but has recently become acquainted with the world of dinosaurs. I enjoy reading to them on the nights that aren't too crazy around here (on those nights we skip story time). I grew up with 12 siblings, so storytime with my mom did not exactly happen! Yet, I still grew up with a strong love of books (even though I haven't had much time to enjoy that hobby myself lately). I hope my kids will continue their love of books as they grow older and outgrow our story time.

Slacker
It has been brought to my attention that I have been neglecting my blog. GUILTY! I don't know why I have felt so overwhelmed lately but my blog has fallen by the wayside as a result (as well as the housekeeping, cooking, all other busy work..seriously how can I get NOTHING done every day??). So Trevor took the boys fishing tonight and instead of trying to complete any household chores, I am focusing on catching up (well, after I snuck off to go shopping at Target). Here is my attempt.
Jacob painted a self-portrait of himself in school. I think he has a knack for it.
Hunter doesn't like it when I take pictures of Jacob and not him. I have to be fair, of course.
Adam decided to try and draw himself a mustache. I caught him at the halfway point. No growing up quickly here please!
Is there any better dinner than free Chick Fil A kid's meals on Super Hero night? I don't think so! My kitchen doesn't either. It seems that every time I attempt to cook it ends up a disaster for days. No wonder I rarely make dinner!

Patiently Awaiting
I am so anxious for it to be fall I can hardly stand it. I am SO tired of this wretched heat. I am looking forward to crisp, cool mornings & evenings, feeling the cool air through open windows, letting the boys go play outside all day, Halloween, being able to wear jeans & sweaters (if I'm lucky), fall decorations & scents..I pretty much love everything about fall. It makes me want to bake and cook and then bake some more. And then eat everything that I have just baked and cooked. Warning to my neighbors: a great vastness of treats will be delivered to you in the coming weeks. And soup. Don't even get me started on my love affair with soup this time of year. Trevor has learned to live with it. I also get bitten by the craft bug this time of year. I normally don't enjoy crafts but something about the fall makes me want to get busy making pretty things. Plus the fall is a lead-in to all the fun holidays of the year. From about mid-September to Christmas I am on cloud 9 with awesome weather (well that part doesn't come until at least October or November) and fun holiday traditions. I can't believe it is already here again (almost)!
So fall, if you are listening..hurry up will you?? Because patience is not my best attribute!
