Trevor was grinding down some metal to try and fit our refrigerator back in it's little cutout in the brick. Apparently the floor we got installed was a bit taller than our blue carpet. There was 1/8 inch available to work with after the install, so we were hopeful. The refrigerator kept getting stuck and wasn't able to slide back any farther. So he tried this option out. The end result was that he got it in, but had to do a little pushing and wedging. He told me it was not coming out until it was dead. Fair enough.
Our trip to Pinetop was a little delayed due to the floors taking longer than we anticipated. We had planned to leave Saturday morning, but they didn't actually finish until Saturday afternoon, around 3. We got busy cleaning up and putting things back together and decided to wait until Sunday morning.
The trip up started off peacefully. The boys were engrossed in their movie, quite a treat since we only put the DVD player in the car on long trips.
And Adam settled right down to sleep. This peaceful trip lasted for about a half hour. Then Hunter started getting restless and Adam's trademark 30 minute nap ended.
Adam was a little emotional when we arrived, probably due to lack of sleep. He was happy to be out of his car seat, but not happy with all the attention he was getting from his Nauni & Aunt Natalie who wanted so desperately to hold him. He's a little shy with people he doesn't see regularly. As long as he is on my hip, he's happy and outgoing.
He was letting us know that he didn't appreciate their attempts and that he wanted me to stop taking pictures and hold him IMMEDIATELY! That's what I translated, anyways.
All smiles when Mama takes over! Little Turkey!
This little guy was a fun find. Jacob & Chase found him right after we arrived. It is one of the biggest horned toads we have seen up there. I'm pretty sure he was wishing he would have run faster.
The boys all had their fun with the little guy before they were coerced into letting him go. He was returned safely to his forest home, thankfully!
Our 4th of July was a pretty gorgeous day. The weather wasn't too hot, the clouds had mercy on us and covered the sun for the most part.
This was Adam's first 4th of July!
Hunter, Adam & I wanted to escape the campground for a bit and ended up here at the lake. We were there for about 5 minutes before Hunter said he was ready to go.
I tried to feed Adam when we got back to the car but he was a bit distracted by the big steering wheel & all the fun little buttons to play with.
When we got back, Adam & Trevor were pooped & decided to take a snooze in the hammock. Trevor was in heaven. He LOVES it when babies sleep on him!
So precious!!
He had some nice rope marks on his thunder thighs when he woke up.
And shirt creases from laying on Daddy's chest.
Even though his nap was a mere 30 minutes, he was all refreshed and happy! I tell him he is my happiest baby who never slept. Love this cute kid!
We were really looking forward to a fireworks show that we could wear our jackets to. Unfortunately, all the fireworks shows were cancelled due to lack of rain. Even though it was raining on and off throughout the day, apparently it wasn't enough to dispel fire concerns. We ended up going out to eat at Pizza Hut with Trevor's parents and then going to bed. It was still a fun night! And we still did enjoy some very nice and cool jacket weather.
Trevor took Tuesday off so we could stay late and enjoy the fireworks (which didn't happen). It was nice to not have very much traffic to encounter on the way home. That morning, before we left, we went for a little walk to see if we could spot any elk. Trevor and the boys saw some the day before and were hoping they were back so I could see them. We didn't have any luck.
Jacob & Hunter..best friends or worst enemies..it can change at any time.
Jacob has gotten a bit more comfortable holding Adam. He loves to bring him to me now. It makes both of us (me & Adam) a little nervous!
We decided to go to Scott's Reservoir before we headed home. When we got in view of the lake Jacob announced, "I can see the ocean!"
Hunter obviously did not want his picture taken.
It was a gorgeous day and a very peaceful & beautiful lake.
The boys were delighted by this dog who belonged to a few fishermen.
Hunter got tired of walking. He told me, "Mom, it's too rocky!!"
A storm was heading our way. It made the weather SO perfect!
Trevor tried to teach the boys how to skip rocks.
Jacob attempted to skip, but they ended up just being plunked in. Hunter didn't even try. He was just happy throwing them like he always does. My boys think it's so fun to throw rocks in water.
Jacob decided to go fishing. He found a reed that looked like an acceptable fishing pole.
Sadly, it didn't work.
Hunter's happy disposition didn't last very long on the way home. I drifted off only to awake to him starting to throw a fit because he was hungry. Trevor told him he needed to wait until I woke up. He pulled the cords out of his DVD player in protest. I woke up and gave him a snack, but he lost his DVD player for the rest of the trip because he's not allowed to touch the cords.
Luckily for everyone involved, he fell asleep for the rest of the trip.
We left some BEAUTIFUL temperatures up north.
Only to find this 3 hours later at home. BLEH!
