Jacob lost his top front tooth on Sunday morning before church as he was brushing his teeth. It has been dangling for a few days now. We knew it was coming out soon. When we were loading into the car to go to church, Jacob ran back to his room for "something." When he got into the car, I asked, "You didn't bring your tooth to church, did you?" He assured me he did not. Flash to 3rd hour of church. I ran into the Primary President in the hall and she informed me that Jacob lost his tooth in Primary but it was OK because they found it. She told me he didn't believe it was really his tooth cause it looked different. Well, how many other kids' teeth are found on the Primary room floor? I was pretty sure they had the right tooth. She told me it looked like it had gotten stepped on or something. Interesting. After church, I confronted Jacob. He insisted he didn't know it was in his bag. He had put it there, but forgot it was there, even when I asked him about it in the car before church. His story was very fishy, but Jacob rarely lies and definitely doesn't continue lying for this long. As we were driving home, I asked him to hand over his tooth. He handed over the baggy with his "tooth" inside. It was definitely NOT a tooth. It looked more like a small piece of sliced almond. We went back to church to look for it, but no luck. The tooth is gone and I am not happy. Luckily for Jacob, his teacher reassured him the Tooth Fairy would still come even if there was no tooth.
