One of Hunter's & my favorite breakfast treats are bagels & cream cheese. The other day, we came home from taking Jacob to school and I popped some in the toaster for us. I went to the restroom while they were toasting. I tried to ignore Hunter while I was in the bathroom, mainly because I have noticed that no matter where they are..they could be contently playing downstairs..as soon as I sit down in the bathroom, they are at the door within a minute with some kind of problem. It is VERY annoying! Anyhow, I heard Hunter getting the stool from the bathroom so I figured I'd better get out there. He always takes any opportune moment, such as my two minutes behind a locked door, to get into something naughty. I came out and Hunter yelled to me, "Look mommy there's moke!" It took a minute to register but I ran in the kitchen. Hunter was standing on the stool by the toaster. He had apparently pushed it down again when it popped up. Not only did he push it down again, but he moved the dial all the way to dark. I popped them up and this is how they landed. They were charred and smoking like a chimney. The place reeked. When I was throwing them away and he told me he wanted a bagel. I let him take a bite of the charred one. He said it was good at first, but a moment later his face scrunched up and he spit it out in the garbage. I told him not to ever touch my toaster again!!! Hopefully he learned his lesson. I'm not holding my breath.
