WEDNESDAY
Wednesday morning began with some vacuuming. It seems lately that I have to do this EVERY day. Anytime Hunter comes in contact with crackers or chips, it is unavoidable that crumbs will be spread all over the floor. I wonder why I even bother to put my vacuum away since it is a daily chore. Here he is "helping" me clean it up with his vacuum! It would be very helpful if his vacuum would actually suck.
We took Grandma to lunch after we got all cleaned up. Lunch took a lot longer than I thought it would. By the time we got home, it was time to leave for the park! Trevor's family had their Easter Party a few weeks early.
Staring contest. Prairie Dog obviously lost!
I know how he feels! I feel exactly the same way whenever I eat chocolate!! Although I do try to avoid smearing it all over my mouth. That is very wasteful!!
Gavin & Jacob playing with their shadows. This kid is so creative that he will take any ordinary thing, such as a shadow, and turn it into an evil nemesis that needs to be brought to justice.
It is so nice that Doug & Rachelle's kids take it upon themselves to watch out for ours! We appreciate having babysitters whenever we meet up with them!!
The Local Cousins. Jacob's cousin, Blake, is giving him bunny ears. He must have wanted it to be a festive Easter picture!
Laying the ground rules. "Watch out for scorpions, venomous snakes & spiders!" (See next picture)
I was cracking up when I saw this sign. I didn't see it until after our egg hunt, but during the hunt, I did think the chosen location was too...deserty!!
These were the types of pokey brush the kids had to brave to claim their eggs. Trevor's family takes Easter Egg hunting very seriously! It is seen as an opportunity for a life lesson. The weak will perish. Only the strong survive!!
Hunter was a quick learner after his uncomfortable encounter with the last scratchy, egg-hiding bush. He found it very helpful to have Aunt Tiffaney assisting him in the hunt. He decided to point out the eggs so she could do the dirty work & collect them for his benefit.
That's my boy!! Thanks Tiff!!
A strong bond was formed when she chose to protect him from the cruel & harsh desert elements. In return, she was his best friend for the day.
(Honestly, he loves her every day but this is just one of the reasons why!)
This big boy has graduated from Easter Egg hunt assistance. He's had a good 4 years of practice. He knows exactly what to do and he does it!! I had to catch up with him just so I could get some action shots!
My Happy Hunters! They enjoyed the rare opportunity to binge on all their findings without a restriction from myself. It's a holiday (St. Patrick's Day counts!) Rules are generally not enforced on such occasions. Especially candy rules!
THURSDAY
On Thursday morning we met some church friends at the park. Our park days are sadly going to be coming to a close soon with the dreaded heat lurking around the corner. We took advantage of a nice day.
One of the girls brought the family dog to the park. Jacob was in HEAVEN! He took that leash and ran that dog around for a good 2 hours. It almost made me want to get a pet dog for him...almost..then I remembered the horrid heat headed our way and how poor puppy would be sitting outside suffering in it. That is just not something I want to put myself through! If Trevor wasn't anti-pets in the house I would consider it..maybe.
Hunter adopted one of the neighbor girl's stuffed animals. It was so cute to see him sitting there hugging it!
Little stuffed animal was forgotten when Giovanna come over to chat. They were seriously sitting there having a conversation. CUTE!! I wish I was closer so I could hear what 2 & 3 year olds talk about.
Myth-Buster: Sand does put a little hair under your arms!!
Girls Beware!!
FRIDAY
On Friday we went to my friend, Rachel's house for a brunch with some old friends. She just bought a new house and I LOVE seeing people's new homes! We were able to catch up from the past few months since we've convened and the kids had a blast playing with her toys..mainly her sandbox, much to my dismay. I pulled out Hunter's washed pants from that day this weekend and there was still some sand lingering in the pockets. I think sand should be upgraded to marshmallows or cotton balls or something clean that doesn't NEVER go away!! I was very excited to see a dark, overcast sky that morning. I skipped, giddily into my closet to put on my winter clothes and boots for possibly one last time. By the time we got to Rachel's the sun was shining and warm...any hope of rain was tossed out window. I felt pretty silly in my thick, warm winter boots! They have officially been shelved until next winter.
When we got home, Trevor was getting ready for his trip to the Dunes. He went with brother-in-law, Dave. When Jacob saw him carrying his camping gear to the door to leave, his face brightened. "WE'RE GOING CAMPING???!!!" Trevor responded, "I am!" Jacob said, "You can't go camping without me!!" Trevor felt a small pang of guilt as he headed out the door. Jacob sat on the stair in the entryway with his head in his chest. He was not a happy camper. I hired a babysitter and went out with Trevor's sister & roommate for a GNO. I ALWAYS enjoy a little "me" time without kids in tow. The next day, I asked Jacob if he had fun with his babysitter. He told me he did, but that he was still upset with Daddy.
SATURDAY
Saturday was our one day to relax at home and not have ANY plans! It was nice to have one of those this week. Once the afternoon hit, I was getting pretty stir crazy. I loaded up the kids and we went to Target & Walmart, where I treated the kids to a rare Happy Meal at McDonald's. We only do that if they have good toys! Otherwise it's the dollar menu at Wendy's or Burger King for them! Trevor was taking care of the quads when we got home so of course the boys requested a ride. He was so tired but he loaded them up anyways and took them around the neighborhood. Probably still feeling a little guilty about dogging Jacob!!
SUNDAY
We got to play hooky from church on Sunday since the boys were sick (even though that's probably where it originated). Hunter had gotten a cough earlier during the week and shared it with Jacob. I didn't feel like exposing the ward to our disease and it was kind of nice to have a relaxing day at home! Sometimes getting ready for church wears me out!!
Jacob's cough turned into wheezing and breathing treatments on Monday & Tuesday. We got up and planned for him to go to school on Tuesday, but I was worried he would spread germs so I bribed him to go shopping with me at Target..cause germs don't spread at stores :). We planned to go to a few more stores but he had started wheezing so I decided to take him straight home and get him on the nebulizer. He was still down on Wednesday but was finally able to return on Thursday, still coughing, but it had been numerous days and I taught him how to cough in his sleeve. His teacher was very proud of his sleeve-coughing efforts! I had been after him for days to do it..must have finally set in!! So our spring break was a little extended. We were all glad to be back in the swing of things!!
